Grant available for making your business more sustainable

Apr 28, 2011

Wyoming Entrepreneur SBDC recently announced a program that’s designed to help you learn how to save money and increase profits through energy efficiency and sustainable practices. It’s called Sustainable Profits and it is one of the coolest things to come along for business in Wyoming! It not only offers you an opportunity to access great information during a seven-week webinar course, but you’ll also receive a free yearlong license to an amazing online tool called Solutions at the Speed of Business, that helps you analyze your energy usage in lighting, HVAC and office equipment. Those who complete the course will have the opportunity to apply for a $2,000 grant that can be used to fund the sustainable measures you identify for your business throughout the program.

The webinar course will be co-facilitated by team members from SBDC and Natural Capital Solutions. It will provide content and resources you can use to develop your sustainability and energy efficiency plans within the context of your overall business plan. You will learn how to get the most bang for your buck in retrofits or behavioral changes you can implement in your company. You will be able to determine what steps to take first, how much they will cost, and the amount of savings you will realize once everything is complete. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with other Wyoming companies who are taking the plunge with you—and learn from each other by sharing your experiences and explorations in the world of sustainability.

The icing on the cake is the grant that you will be eligible to apply for after you finish the course and complete your sustainability plan. This may provide up to $2,000 to help you do the work that you have prioritized on your list. These grants are intended to give you a kick-start for getting your business green, lean and ready for the future.

Applications are currently being accepted by SBDC Sustainability Specialist, Susan Jerke, 307.682.5232. We are looking leaders who will be willing to showcase their work and share what they have learned with other Wyoming businesses.

The webinar course will begin in June 1. There is no fee for the program, but enrollment is limited. This is a one-time opportunity made possible by special funding through the US Small Business Administration, so don’t let it pass you by! Deadline to apply is May 20.
