HUBZone and 8(a) Certifications

This webinar will cover the basics of both of these two socioeconomic certification programs and the advantages of being certified under each. You can expect several useful examples about how certification has helped Wyoming businesses compete in and win bids in the federal arena.

Emphasis will be placed on the qualifications as well as the application processes. We’ll also cover:

  • What you should expect
  • The types of documentation needed
  • How and when to prepare detailed letters of explanation
  • The HUBZone early engagement initiative
  • How to maintain certification
  • How to use the certifications as a marketing tool
  • And more!

 

Presented by:

Rich Lyles is the Manager for the Procurement Technical Assistance Center in the Wyoming Small Business Development Center Network. Previously, he worked as a Government Contracts Advisor and as the Deputy Director of the Procurement Outreach Program in the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development for five years. Rich is a 1991 graduate of UNLV with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and received his MBA from UNLV in 1994. Beginning in college in 1990 Rich first worked in the public sector with the Bureau of Reclamation and after three years worked in the private sector as the CFO and the General Manager for two small government contractors.

Brad mix is the Business Opportunity Specialists with the Small Business Administration (SBA) district office in Casper Wyoming.
