Entrepreneurs looking to start their own business can learn about everything that is required during an upcoming Start Your Own Business Workshop in Lander, WY. Presented by the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network and Central Wyoming College – Lander, this no-cost training will provide a basic overview of starting a business in our state. The workshop will take place on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 11 am to 1 pm at Central Wyoming College – Lander.
Explore the pros and cons of owning a business and evaluate the skills and knowledge necessary for success. This workshop will cover numerous topics such as:
- testing the feasibility of your business idea
- identifying your target market
- financing options
- creating a business plan
SBA representatives will also provide an overview on Wyoming’s Opportunity Zones, an investment program designed to help bolster economic vitality in low-income or otherwise disadvantaged communities.
This is designed to be an interactive program, so bring your questions. This program is free-of-charge for Wyoming residents, but pre-registration is appreciated.

This workshop is co-sponsored by the Lander Chamber of Commerce, who will be providing lunch to all attendees.
The workshop will be presented by Wyoming SBDC Network Regional Director Sarah Hamlin. Hamlin comes from a marketing and operations background with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver, a MBA from Colorado State University, and a certificate in Social Media Marketing from SUNY Plattsburg. In addition to general one-on-one business advising, Sarah specializes in social media and digital marketing.
